MSURV had a very productive day at the On-Site Renewable Exhibition & Showcase that was held in Perth during the month. Seen here receiving his prize of a bottle of Single Malt is Steven Dijkstra-Downie of RealiseRenewables whose entry of 40m was closest to the

actual 39.749m in our ‘Red Dot Challenge’ – many thanks to all those who participated.

"We have been very impressed with the service; quality of output and speed of turn around - sufficiently to recommend MSURV to other contacts of ours."

The London Olympics certainly created a buzz in the country; let’s hope the legacy continues with long term benefits. Earlier in the summer we had the privilege of meeting Ben Hunt-Davis, Gold medal winner at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the Men’s Rowing Eight – shown here alongside MSURV’s Tim Brennan.

Ben’s philosophy of "Will it Make the Boat Go Faster" is truly inspirational which led to an astonishing win to become the first British crew to win gold since 1912. Watch this clip of the actual race:

Work at a large industrial complex has involved an extensive topographical survey; building elevation detail; and internal layouts to three floors of the manufacturing site.

East – West;  North – South:  MSURV’s workload so far this year has taken us to most parts of the country.

March 2012

MSURV commenced on a number of projects for Carillion Plant Services which will entail regular quarry surveys to quantify rock extraction volumes utilising non-contact measurement of the in-accessible/hazardous features.

The combined output of the quarries, located throughout England & Scotland, is in excess of 10M Tonnes per annum. It’s unlikely that the glorious spring weather will be repeated on subsequent visits (very much of a bonus when operating on sites 500m above sea level!).

January 2012

An interesting assignment to start the year, all in accordance with the Confined Space Regulations 1997, required 1100m of culvert running beneath the centre of Birmingham to be surveyed and cross sections to be produced at approx. 50m intervals. Carrying escape breathing equipment and gas monitors for safety, a 2 man team entered the system from street level and then traversed thro the system of three parallel tunnels identifying all incoming channels/entry points and defects in the tunnel lining. The quality of the historical brickwork construction certainly inspired some thought as to the difficulties that the original builders must have worked with.
